Ontario’s Qualified FLSPs — Trained, Tested & Licensed by the LSO
At Cordaie Paralegal Services, your case is handled by Ontario’s FLSPs — professionals licensed by the Law Society of Ontario.
Becoming an FLSP is no small feat. Each provider must complete:
- Fanshawe College’s LSO-approved FLSP Program — the only accredited training program in Ontario
- Advanced family-law coursework covering divorces, domestic contracts, support, parenting issues, court procedures and more
- A mandatory, hands-on family-law internship, working directly with real clients, lawyers, and court staff
This is specialized training designed exclusively for family law — not general paralegal education, and not something most legal professionals have.

Don't See Your Question Here?
Our team is always available to help—quickly, confidentially, and in plain language.
1. What is an FLSP?
An FLSP is a legal professional licensed by the LSO to provide family law services, including document preparation, settlement assistance, and representation in certain family court processes.
2. Are FLSPs the same as paralegals?
No. FLSPs are a distinct, newly created license with additional family-law-specific training, education, and competency requirements beyond a paralegal licence.
In short, there are licensed paralegals who are not authorized FLSPs.
At the time of this writing, there were nearly 12,000 licensed paralegals in Ontario. However, out of those licensed paralegals, only 67 are LSO authorized FLSPs.
3. What family law matters can an FLSP help with?
FLSPs can assist with:
- Child support applications & variations
- Spousal support variations
- Parenting time/contact issues (in specific circumstances)
- Domestic contract preparation ®gistration
- Name change processes
- Uncontested divorce filings
- Child support enforcement assistance with FRO
- Court form preparation & filings
- Negotiation and settlement support
4. Can an FLSP represent me in court?
Yes — FLSPs can represent clients in certain family law proceedings, including simple support matters, procedural hearings, and settlement conferences.
⚠️Important: They cannot appear on complex issues like property division.
5. How are FLSPs trained?
FLSPs complete an intensive, specialized family law program (e.g., through Fanshawe College), followed by a mandatory supervised internship and competency assessments before being licensed by the LSO.
6. Are FLSPs qualified to prepare family court documents?
Absolutely. FLSPs are trained specifically in drafting, reviewing, and filing Ontario family court forms, financial statements, motions, applications, agreements, and other required documents.
7. Is an FLSP more affordable than a lawyer?
Yes.
FLSPs provide legal services at significantly lower cost than traditional family lawyers — making us a highly accessible option without sacrificing quality or expertise for eligible family matters.
8. When should I choose an FLSP instead of a lawyer?
An FLSP is ideal for:
- Support issues (child or spousal)
- Enforcing or registering agreements
- Domestic contracts
- Simple parenting matters
- Uncontested divorces
- Name changes
- Document preparation and guidance
⚠️Important: If your case involves property division or complex litigation, you may need a family lawyer — and we’ll tell you upfront if that’s the case.
9. How do I know if an FLSP is authorized?
All FLSPs must be an LSO licensed paralegal who is an authorized FLSP.
⚠️Important: You can search their name in the LSO authorized FLSP directory to confirm by clicking here.
Our founding licensed paralegal, Damian Cordaie and licensed paralegal, Siobhan Rocks, were both amongst the first 39 FLSPs in Ontario.
You can find them listed individually in the directory under 8/6/2025 authorization date.
10. Why choose your firm’s FLSPs?
Because your case will be handled by two of the first 39 FLSPs ever licensed in Ontario, trained in the inaugural Fanshawe College program and backed by real experience, proven results, and client-centred service.
